| The Union Jack is being paraded in Linggi.
Datuk Jalur and his clan are in favour of inviting the
British to develop Linggi. Datuk Jalur wants his shares
of the collections from the taxes imposed by the British
on the people of Linggi. |
| |
| Datuk Kelana, Datuk Melan, Datuk Kadir and penghulu
Osman strongly opposed the idea. Penghulu Osman defends
Nanings refusal to pay taxes to the British. They hear
of the news that the British receives support from Rembau.
The foursome makes a pact to defend Malay interests and
the sovereignity of Linggi and Naning. They are willing
to fight to the death to free their people from the oppression. |
| |
| Butler, the British representative, hears of Datuk Kelana's
magical ability to become invisible but dismisses it as
a falsehood. Datuk Kelana is now considered an enemy of
the British and orders his arrest by Datuk Jalur. |
| |
| Datuk Kelana disappears from sight. After failing to
capture Datuk Kelana, they seized his son, Bujang, with
the accusation of conspiring with his father against the
British. Bujang's wife, Halimatun Saadiah was held in
captivity earlier. |
| |
| The secret attack plan by the foursome is overheard
by one of the British dogs. In an ambush, Penghulu Osman
is killed. Datuk Kelana insists on personally dealing
with Butler for further negotiations and not with Datuk
Jalur's clan whom he calls as the British spy dogs and
traitors of their own race. |
